  • Family outreach
The Family Support Services Unit (FSSU) works with correctional staff to respond to inquiries, requests, concerns, and complaints raised by family members of individuals in the custody of the MSO. The unit also engages families through outreach and education and provides information, assistance, referrals, and support to family members during their loved ones' incarceration.

  • Pre-release reunification and education
The site will showcase the FSSU, which allows for reunification and mediation before the incarcerated person's release. This includes naloxone training and MAT education.

  • Recovery navigators
The site employs recovery navigators with lived experience and uses the lived experience to connect with program participants meaningfully.

  • Medication-assisted treatment
Middlesex County provides all forms of MAT for maintenance. New inductions are currently happening 30 days before release for sentenced individuals. The site has a three-phase plan to induct all pretrial and sentenced individuals on any form of MAT throughout the incarceration period.
